Sierra is a graduate of the University of Michigan School of Public Health and also holds an MPH from the University of Washington. During her time in the DRB Lab as an undergrad student she worked as a research assistant studying adolescent sexual health and new media as a means of health promotion, learned project management skills and published a Scoping Review.

Shawtaabdee is class of 2022 graduate at the University of Michigan College of Literature Science and the Arts. She is a pre-health student and was a participant in the Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP). Shawtaabdee seeks to one day help disparities in dentistry or medicine.

Maya Smith is a graduate of the University of Michigan School of Medicine and will start her residency in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in the fall at UC Davis. While in the DRB Lab, Maya worked on the MASCS II project. Maya is interested in gender and health and decreasing the current inequalities facing adolescents and young adults today.

Rico Ozuna-Harrison is a graduate of the University of Michigan College of LSA. He was pre-med student and walk-on to the University of Michigan Men's Basketball Team. As a research assistant for Dr. Burns, Rico brought skills in scholarly writing, photography, website design as well as taking lead in focus groups.

Salisha Baranwal is a graduate of the University of Michigan School of Literature, Science, and Art. While she aspires to further her career in medicine, she has an interest in social media and its influences. While in the lab Salisha managed DRB social medias, and was in charge of advertisement for MASC II, and designs for the UMICH yearbook and the DRB lab. She currently is a graduate student at Vanderbilt University

Kedar Johnson is a graduate of the University of Michigan School of Nursing. Trained in focus group procedures and the use of our interview guide, questionnaire design, data analysis. He also assists in the development of manuscripts. He enjoys health and wellness, fitness, running and working with youth. Kedar currently works as a nurse at Michigan Medicine

Kourtni aimed to gain experience and exposure to issues related to the health and well being of underrepresented populations. Kourtni currently works as an Labor and Delivery nurse in the state of New Jersey

Keith Johnstone graduated from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business with a major in Business Administration and a minor in political science. Keith has a mission to make an impact in his community and assist clinics in providing underserved clientele with what they need. He led the focus groups for the Young Men's Health Matters Program and was a

co-author on two manuscripts in the lab.

Rebecca Abaddi is a graduate of the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree program/ pediatric nurse practitioner  practice track. She currently works as an nurse practitioner in the State of Washington where she specializes in pediatric urgent care and emergency medicine. During her time at the DRB Lab she conducted in-depth interviews and worked on qualtiative data analysis.

Alexis Paisley is a graduate of the University of Detroit Second-Career Nursing BSN program. Alexis played a key role in the DRB staff by coding and aiding in logistical assessments to ongoing projects and papers. She currently works as a nurse at Michigan Medicine

Lindsay Miles is a graduate of the University of Michigan School of Nursing. While in the DRB Lab she aspired to further her career in health, she has an interest in teens and young adults. Lindsay has excellent skills in managing social media sites, creating and improving surveys,  creating infographics, and conducting team literature reviews. She currently works as a Labor & Delivery Nurse with the McLaren Health System

      Sandy Arena graduated from the University of Michigan School of Nursing with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing in the Honors Program. Sandy will be attending Columbia University for the MPH program in Health Policy and Management! During her time in the lab Sandy worked on the Stay Safe project and submitted a manuscript that is currently under review.

She manages projects within the DRB Lab focused on young men’s sexual health, new media interventions, and community-academic partnerships. Her primary research interest is the mental health and well-being of youth, particularly those who experience disparities in access to care.
